A cross-genre, cross-country collab that marks a musical moment of taking back one's power, LISA, Doja Cat and RAYE’s “Born Again” was originally recorded by RAYE as a dark disco cut intended for her debut album. That record was consistently denied release and shelved for at least seven years until the British singer-songwriter called out her then-label Polydor Records in 2021. While a solo version of RAYE’s “Born Again“ leaked around that time, pop fans considered it a lost gem after RAYE parted with Polydor to go independent.
Around this time same time, Doja Cat was turning her viral Internet fame into a full-fledged pop career in large part thanks to breakout single “Say So.” The track caught the ear of LISA when BLACKPINK was preparing ‘THE SHOW’ livestream concert in 2021 and the Thai sensation performed a cover of it during her specific solo stage. Lisa continued to share her admiration for the fellow singer-rapper through the years and a collaboration started to feel all the more real when LISA signed to the same label as Doja at RCA Records.
Now, as the latest taste of LISA's Alter Ego album (out on February 28), “Born Again” literally gets new life as the song is released by LISA, RAYE and Doja Cat in a true act of artistic admiration and empowerment.
And the results are already speaking for themselves: “Born Again” quickly earned both the biggest debuts on YouTube and Spotify in 2025. Plus, the song is quickly picking up speed on Top 40 radio (even as both LISA’s “Moonlit Floor” and RAYE’s “Oscar Winning Tears” are at Nos. 22 and 35, respectively, on Billboard’s Pop Songs airplay chart).
This song is a big pop hit waiting to happen while feeling like the latest major all-star female collab following “Lady Marmalade” and “Bang Bang,” but has a story of genuine respect and admiration fueling it.
